Directions to the CenterThe Forum, Dreamers' Café, REM's Office, and its boardroom are all located in the Center, the former Stern's Department Store, at 93 Main Street in downtown Waterville. To come visit, just follow the directions below:
From the north: Take Exit 34 (Waterville-Fairfield) off Interstate 95 and turn left. Drive past the shopping center, up a rise, and down the hill. After 1.1 miles, you will crosss a set of railroad tracks and 0.2 miles later you will come to an X-shaped intersection, with Rite Aid and the historic Central Fire State on the left. Proceed straight through the intersection on to Main Street. The Center is at the far end of the third block, 0.3 miles from the intersection, on the left.
After parking, go into the Center through the Main Street entrance, shown in the photo at the top of the page. Dreamers' Café is the first door on the right; the Forum is the second door. The board room is on the second floor, at the end of the ramp at the top of the stairs. (There is also an elevator is at the end of the hall.) The REM office is the second door on the left, after Maine Made and More and the stairs. If you get lost, call REM at 873-4444, and we'll send a search party. |
From the south: Take Exit 33 (Waterville-Oakland) off Interstate 95 and turn right. After 1.6 miles, the road crosses a stream and bears left. Three quarters of a mile after the bridge, Elm Street veers off to the left, by the Universalist-Unitarian Church. Keep going straight. After another quarter mile, you will come to a four-lane divided street, Spring Street. Proceed through the intersection. You may then park and walk around the block to the Center, or continue driving less than 0.2 miles to the intersection with Main Street. Turn right. The Center is on the left, at the far end of the block.
Parking: On-street parking is available on Main and Common Streets. Additional parking is available in the Concourse, behind city hall, and at Head of Falls. There is no charge to park in any of these locations. See the map at left. Arrows indicate one-way streets.
