Chamber of Commerce – Employee Evaluations and Performance Results (Sept. 10)WATERVILLE, August 20 — The next Business Breakfast, presented by Thomas College in partnership with the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, will focus on "A Strange Mix: Employee Evaluations and Performance Results." The presentation will be held on Thursday, September 10, at 7:30 a.m. in the atrium of the student center of the college 180 West River Road in Waterville. In this session, Ted Helberg, vice president of Human Resources for Myllykoski North America, will discuss performance management systems, program designs, and the ensuing mixed results in most organizations. He will explore strategies and tactics to obtaining superior performance, measuring performance, and supporting organizational objectives including what works, what doesn't and why. He will also attempt to discover the missing link between performance and compensation. Myllykoski is one of the world's premier suppliers of coated and uncoated paper for the publishing industry. It has been a family owned corporation for over 115 years and currently has mills in the U.S., Germany, Finland, and Switzerland. It is the majority owner of Madison Paper. In his role, Helberg is responsible for Labor/Employee Relations, Compensation/Benefits, Professional Development and Training, Organizational Effectiveness, Change Management, Safety and Health, Employment, Community Relations, and Strategy Management. He also serves on the Executive Board of the corporation. Prior to his paper industry experience, he worked for twenty years in the food industry in both production and human resources. The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and the program at 8:00. The public is invited.
