Good Will Hinckley – School's Out Children's Discovery Programs (June 24-26)The L.C. Bates Museum will have exciting School's Out Children's Discovery Programs from 9:00 a.m. to noon on June 24, 25, and 26. To celebrate the summer holidays the museum will host several hands-on fun explorations of that will explore the museum exhibits and the natural area behind the museum. Pre-registration for the programs will help us plan materials. Please contact the museum to register at lcbates@gwh.org or On June 24, come explore our lively lily pad-filled wetland with nets and buckets! This is an ever popular event at the museum when children get to explore a vibrant wetland investigating the world of amphibians, crustaceans, insects, and birds up close. On June 25, investigate the world of Maine mammals through the museum’s newly restored large mammal diorama and other hands-on fun. This program promises looks at skulls, pelts, and tracks of Maine mammals. Plus each child will create track flashcards to bring home to encourage further fun nature explorations. On June 26, children will discover the vibrant world of birds with a bird walk and a stroll through the museum’s lovely bird dioramas. If your children love birds- this program is for them! Children will learn more about the songs, feathers, feet, and beaks of our feathered friends plus bring home a paper bird they make. All the programs include make-and-take crafts and learning games.
