Chamber of Commerce – Joseph B. Ezhaya Scholarship

Attention high school seniors: The Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications until April 28, 2008, for the Joseph B. Ezhaya Scholarship. This is not a need based scholarship; any student meeting criteria below may apply.

Joe Ezhaya was a community leader who distinguished himself with his warmth, enthusiasm, generosity and particularly, his friendships. Successful candidates for this scholarship should share Joe’s interest in citizenship, community service and exemplify his spirit and vitality.

To apply, one must:

  • Be currently attending a Mid-Maine Chamber area high school: Lawrence, Winslow, Mt. View, Waterville, Messalonskee, MCI or Erskine
  • Maintain an academic average of a "C" or better
  • Complete an essay on citizenship
  • Show evidence of community service and involvement
  • Have enrolled in an accredited New England college or university

The scholarship committee has determined that:

  • The annual selection committee will be selected by an established committee of the Chamber to include no less than one member of the Ezhaya family.
  • The Chamber will mail out the scholarship announcement with criteria to all Chamber area high school guidance councilors each year.
  • The scholarship will be given upon completion of the first college semester with a grade point achievement of 2.0 or better.

Remember: The deadline is April 28, 2008.

One should submit one's completed and signed application, along with a copy of one's academic transcript, to the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, 1 Post Office Square, Waterville, ME 04901. Anyone with questions about this scholarship or the application process may call the Chamber at 873-3315.
