The community is invited to gather at the Waterville Opera House on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 2 – 4 p.m., to help several area non-profit organizations honor exemplary volunteers who have worked to make our world a better place and succeeded in their efforts so well that their organizations can’t help but proudly display their work for the world to see.
At this celebration, there will be entertainment, but best of all will be the opportunity to discover that you live in a community with the stars.
Faye Nicholson and Jackie Dalton, Co-Executive Directors of REM, presenters of this event, have this to say: “Some stars get big bucks for throwing balls through hoops, getting battered on the football field or singing rap music. The real stars live right here and give of their lives and hearts for no pay at all. They literally change our lives. And for them we invite you to join us at the REM Awards. The real winners will be you. You’ll have a chance to find out what these people have done to deserve this recognition. You’ll go away proud to have met them and hopefully, anxious to volunteer for one of the REM Partner organizations.”
REM will make meeting the honorees easier by hosting a reception following the celebration in REM Forum at The Center …a short walk away across the skywalk and down the stairs.
