REM's Vintage Dinner Dance (Dec. 12)![]() REM, a network of volunteers building community through work and play, is teaming up with the Central Maine Ballroom Dance Society to create an evening designed to celebrate the spirit of the holidays of yesteryear. This annual event is part of REM's YuleTide Festival. The gala will be held in The Center at 93 Main Street in downtown Waterville. The REM Forum and Lounge will be all dressed up for the season and guests are invited to bring out the vintage styles in gowns and tuxes. The evening will begin with dinnner at 6:00 p.m. in the REM Forum and Lounge. The meal will feature great food provided by Dreamers' Creative Catering, a group of volunteer cooks, bakers, cleaners, decorators, and servers who provide food service for REM events at The Center. The dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. upstairs in the Waterville Opera House Dance Studio on the third floor of The Center. Everyone is invited, both those who like to dance and those who just want to watch — no partners are required. David and Betty Begin and other members of the Central Maine Ballroom Dance Society will feature dance demonstrations as well as provide instruction for those who might like to join in. At 8:30 guests are invited to return to REM Forum and Lounge for dessert and a drawing of YuleTide theme gift baskets. Guests will be able to purchase raffle tickets up to the time of the drawings. From 9:30 to 11:00, guests will return to the Dance Studio for more dance and fun. The cost for dinner is $5.00 per person. For the dance and dessert, it is $10. Prepaid reservations are required. All proceeds will fund REM's community projects. For more information, call |
